Marketing design for Oak Park agents

A village known around the world for its architecture, where the house itself is often the headline and the buyer already knows the vocabulary.

The market

Oak Park borders Chicago's Austin neighborhood on the west side and holds one of the largest concentrations of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings anywhere, including his Home and Studio. Prairie School houses by Wright and his contemporaries sit on the same streets as large Victorians, Queen Annes and Stick Style homes.

Buyers here tend to arrive informed. They know the difference between a Prairie and a Foursquare, and they will notice a brochure that gets it wrong. Much of the village falls within historic districts, and restoration work, original details and documented provenance carry real weight in how a home is presented.

What sells here

  • Prairie School homes, some by recognized architects
  • Victorian, Queen Anne and Stick Style houses
  • American Foursquares and bungalows
  • Vintage condominium buildings near the Green Line and Metra

What the marketing has to do

  • Architectural writing checked against the records you provide, never inferred from a style.
  • Detail photography given space in brochures: leaded glass, built-ins, original woodwork.
  • Restrained typography that does not compete with houses that are already the design statement.
